Have you tried using the Windows sound controls?

In Windows 10, you need to grant access for applications to use recording devices. See: https://www.windowscentral.com/windows- ... ows10_1803

Check that you have selected the correct playback device in the "Device Toolbar" (https://manual.audacityteam.org/man/device_toolbar.html)

Assuming that you are, I have logged this bug on the Audacity bug tracker.

Can my previously saved version still be accessed? Do not save the blank version with it's current file name. If you want to save it (though it is probably useless), ensure that you use "Save Project As ", and enter a new name for the project. So long as you've not overwritten your backup...
