The "Import" command imports into the current project.
The "Open" command opens a new project.

This is a factory-baked curve. Which one is it? Sure looks like "Low rolloff for speech". The display should say somewhere with no other work on my part. How did you get that curve? I'm guessing that you selected "Low rolloff for speech" from the Factory Presets. I'd go further ...
