The Compressor is a built-in effect, so that should be available by default.
What's the problem when you try to apply the Compressor effect?
Which version of Audacity do you have? (Look in "Audacity menu > About Audacity".)

Re: iPhone recordings with deadly interference -- is there a fix??
As suspected, that's beyond repair. You can make the noise a little less harsh, but at the expense of the voice becoming a bit muffled, by filtering out frequencies above about 5 kHz using the"Filter Curve" effect. eq.png The result (also amplified): Jeannette2.wav I expect that's about as...

Re: mod-script-pipe: get selection
The "NyquistPrompt:" scripting command is not currently usable. The workaround is to write your Nyquist commands as a plug-in, install the plug-in and then you can call the plug-in from the Python script. In this case, you would write a plug-in to create a label at the current selection. S...

Re: Spleeter demo (in Audcaity)
I wonder if Spleeter is related to https://github.com/wslihgt/separateLeadStereo
This thread has some examples / comparisons for the latter: viewtopic.php?f=46&t=95619
It might be interesting to see / hear comparisons between Spleeter and separateLeadStereo.

Re: wxWidgets debugging check failed on opening Audacity
I'm not sure what you need to see Neither am I. For some reason, it appears that Audacity is attempting to load the wrong version of FFmpeg before loading the correct version. I'm looking for anything that might give a clue as to why that is happening on a few machines (including yours) but not oth...

Re: iPhone recordings with deadly interference -- is there a fix??
In places it's obscuring the voice almost completely Those places are probably beyond repair, but if you'd like to post a short sample (just a few seconds in WAV format, then we'll be able to tell you for sure. See here for how to post an audio sample: https://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?f...

Re: ]]LOST MY BATCH FLAC TO WAV CONVERSION CAPABILITY
When I try and import multiple FLAC files (by CTL/clicking the FLAC files I want) and then File/Import/Audio, the first file imports OK, subsequent files get stuck into the same AUDACITY project window below the first load and get "squished" - they are garbage. How do you mean "squis...
