Re: 8 hour recording... lost?
The only thing I don't know is the offset. The offset is usually just a few samples, that appear as a bit of noise at the start. I usually import with offset set to zero, then when it has imported, zoom in on the first few samples and delete the noise. The above may not work in the case of 24-bit P...

Re: Opening Audio File in Audacity via Firefox
I’m still curious though, why is Audacity unable to open a filename with spaces if opened with Firefox? Filenames without spaces open perfectly. Yes that's curious. I rarely use Windows, but my guess is that the file name that Audacity receives is not quoted, so it looks to Audacity to be a list of...

Re: wxWidgets debugging check failed on opening Audacity
From the comments on the bug tracker, I was expecting to be able to recognise what was wrong, but I don't. I must be missing something because everything looks OK as far as I can see. Hopefully there's sufficient information in this thread that someone will be able to spot the problem.

Re: How can I do this with Audacity?
If you don't mind a small change in the speed (tempo), then you can use a "Time Track" (see: https://manual.audacityteam.org/man/time_tracks.html) If you want to change the pitch without changing the tempo, then it's a bit trickier: In these steps we use the "Sliding Stretch" eff...

Re: Opening Audio File in Audacity via Firefox
User clicks a hyperlink containing a URL to a MP3 file and is then presented with a dialogue window to open with a specific program. In this case, it’s Audacity. Strictly speaking, it shouldn't be, though we don't dictate what users do/don't do on their computers. The "native" format for ...

Re: Help: File size differences when using "Save As" and "Save As Lossless"
Why does Save Project As have a different file size than Save Lossless Copy of Project when theoretically they should be exactly the same? Sometimes the sizes will be the same, and sometimes the "Save Lossless Copy" will be bigger. In an "ordinary" (Save Project As...) project: ...

Re: Selecting gaps between audio
I am trying to select all gaps in between audio to use the silence function only once. Not sure exactly what you mean. Are you wanting to silence all the parts of a recording that have only background noise? If so, then you can use the "Noise Gate" plug-in. https://wiki.audacityteam.org/w...
