Re: Clipping issue. DJ mixer>Behringer UCA222>Macbook Pro

I tested with one RCA in Right channel and there's no left channel signal Before we jump to conclusions, just one thing. Did you disconnect the right channel from the UCA222 at the Behringer end (nothing plugged into the UCA222 right input connector), or at the other end of the lead (cable plugged ...

Re: Can't Record Second Track in Win 10

Not designed for real time processing? No, Audacity does not do real-time processing, other than some effects having "real-time preview" (such as the Distortion, Phaser, WahWah effects, LV2, AU and some VST effects). The only other things that Audacity does in real time are: Recording and...

I´d like to know how to convert a mp3 or wav file into text file
You could feed it into a Hex Editor

having dB x time or intensity x time.
A Hex editor won't give you that, but it does give you a text representation of the file data.

Re: Mains hum: notch filter alternative?

That mixing is a good idea. A better idea, though rather more complicated to code, is to apply the notch filter only when the audio is relatively quiet. As you noted earlier on in this thread, this is what the "Hum Remover" effect does. When the sound is loud, the hum will be totally drow...

Re: Mains hum: notch filter alternative?

Where may ringing appear, is it near the filters frequency, or over the whole spectrum? Close to the Filter's frequency. I have to duplicate the stereo tracks first and mix the duplicates back after filtering? If you're using a Nyquist filter (as used in Audacity's "Low Pass", "High ...

Re: Solo each track in project and play it back

  1. Ctrl + A (Select All)
  2. Tracks menu > Align Tracks > Align End to End
  3. Spacebar (play)
  4. (optional) Ctrl + Z (Undo the "Align End to End")

The phase-shifts are the same at hardware or Audacity-filter?
The Equalizer in Audacity has linear phase.
For vinyl, this is largely irrelevant as you have no idea what the inverse RIAA filters were doing to the phase during mastering.

Re: Mains hum: notch filter alternative?

A complete "cleaning" with a strong subsonic filter will lower a lot of bass too, so I want to be careful there. A notch filter is better for removing / reducing hum than a strong subsonic filter. The first problem with using a subsonic filter is that musical bass frequencies frequently g...

Re: Clipping issue. DJ mixer>Behringer UCA222>Macbook Pro

Is this noise a problem, or contributing to the problem? No, that's not a problem. It's normal for there to be a tiny bit of noise from any audio device. That "silent" sample shows a little bit of "mains hum" plus "dither noise". With a bit of careful tweaking and bett...
