Thanks for this thread! I have/had the same issue on Xubuntu 19.10 and Audacity 2.3.2.

Did this (very old) thread allow you to resolve the issue? If so, what exactly did you do to fix the problem?

A possible alternative to sending an MP3 plus Label file, would be to send a "Compressed Copy" of the Audacity project

Possibly some VST plug-ins (if you have any installed). Unfortunately, Windows hides a lot of information about what an application is doing. I don't know how to see (on Windows) what plug-ins Audacity is trying to load - I don't think Windows lets you do that. If you know that you have plug-ins ins...

Check in the Windows Sound settings that none of the recording devices have "listen to this device" enabled.

Have you enabled "Sound Activated Recording" and set the "Sound Activation Level"? (see: https://manual.audacityteam.org/man/pla ... g.html#sar)

My guess is that you have plug-ins installed that are not supported by Audacity, so you have to wait until Audacity gives up (times out) trying to load them.

Audacity currently only supports a single time selection.

Did you get it via the Audacity website? If not, you may not have the current version.
