Re: Recover session

if most effects are descriptive (original files do not need to be copied/rewritten) instead of being destructive (audio files needed to be created). but that would be a completely different program. Audacity is an "audio editor", sometimes referred to as a "sample editor". The p...

Despite of that isn't -60dB 1/1.000.000 and -90dB 1.000.000.000
-60 dB is 0.001 linear scale.
-90 dB is 3.16228e-05 or 0.000031622777 linear scale.

To convert from amplitude dB to amplitude linear:

Code: Select all

10^(db / 20)

Finally I think the "disk space" thing should not be the argument for dismissing this feature.
Did someone say that it was?

I have been using it like 50% of all cases
Why? What benefit does it have for you?

Re: Weird voice every few seconds in recording...

It sounds like you may have a trial version of some audio software or plug-in installed that is adding a voice.
Does it occur if you just record and use no effects, or does it occur only when you use a specific effect?

Re: sudden unexpected waveform changes

Just finished and saved a chapter. You saved the Audacity project ? (as opposed to exporting an audio file) When I re-opened it, the waveform was nearly flat...but the audio seemed ok. Are you saying that the waveform was visually much smaller vertically, but sounded the same as before? Are you awa...

Re: New Feature Request: A "NEVER Change My Device" Setting

I choose "Pulse" for both input and output device and don't seem to experience the issue you describe. If Pulse is working for you, stick with it. Audacity "should" work with PulseAudio, but it is a known problem that for many (but not all) Linux users, it causes Audacity to fre...

Re: sudden unexpected waveform changes

With this most recent experience, I decided to save several times during the course of recording - in case the problem occured again. The best way to make backups (for safety), is to use "Save Lossless Copy of Project..." (see: https://manual.audacityteam.org/man/file_menu_save_project.ht...

Re: How to get rid of background noise?

That video seems to be all noise. If you're trying to separate the different sounds in that video, that can't be done.

when finished , edited and deleted.....I want to start over but program picks up where I ended and I do not get my track playing.
I don't understand precisely what you mean. Please describe what you are doing, what is happening, and what you expect to happen that isn't.
