Re: Roland TD1 Not showing on Audacity Microphone Selections
The Roland TD-1DMK drum set does not send audio over USB, only MIDI. From the Roland TD-1DMK user manual (https://static.roland.com/assets/media/pdf/TD-1_eng02_W.pdf) If you want sound from a computer or iPad to play back from the V-Drums sound module, use a commercially available audio cable to con...

Re: 3rd and 4th Mic not working with Steinberg UR44
Audacity can only record from one "device" at a time. For compatibility, manufacturers of 4 channel devices generally create split a 4 channel device into two 2-channel WDM device drivers. Some manufacturers also provide an additional "multi-channel" WDM device driver that gives ...

Re: Taking way too long to import
Is it just that one file that's causing the problem?
Try importing other files of about the same duration and see if they have the same problem.

Re: Issues with panning on song
Like Trebor, my guess is that you are only recording one audio channel. That will occur if the recording device is set to mono in the Windows Sound settings (see: https://manual.audacityteam.org/man/windows_accessing_the_windows_sound_controls.html#Device_settings) Ensure that the recording device i...

Re: Provide start, end, and length of selection
I expect that the layout in the Selection Toolbar will be reviewed when the new, big "Current Time" toolbar is available, but not before. The code for the new toolbar was added during the current release cycle (submitted to Audacity by a new contributor), but has been found to be buggy, so...

Re: 2 LH channels or 2 RH channels
Right-click on the Windows Volume/Speaker icon and select Open Sound Settings. Select the USB device* as your Input Device. Then select Manage Sound Devices and navigate through the settings to make sure it's set for 2-channel stereo. See also: https://manual.audacityteam.org/man/windows_accessing_...

Re: Labeling Tracks bombs & suggestions
If you only have one label track, you can export it as a text file, spell check it, then import it back.

Re: Mastering with different voices / different pitch
That's not cast in stone. A friend of mine had an audiobook accepted by ACX last year, which included background music and sound effects. (He had to prove that he owned the rights to the sound effects and music).

Re: Remove music from a recording
If the music is on a separate track from the voice, then you can simply reduce the track Gain on the music track (https://manual.audacityteam.org/man/audio_tracks.html#gain) If the music and voice are mixed together on a single track, then you've probably blown it, though you could try the "Voc...
