Unfortunately, it's not uncommon for sound card drivers to not support WASAPI very well. If you are using a branded computer, check on the manufacturer's website to see if they provide updated drivers.

In the same price range there isn't much competition other than other Behringer devices (such as the UCA-202 and UFO-202). There are cheaper devices, but they are usually rubbish. For more money, there's a lot of choice, including devices from (in no particular order): Focusrite, Art, Boss, Steinber...
