The message says audacity did not recognize the file type That probably means that the ".aup" file is trash. try installing ffmpeg? Ignore that - That error message assumes that you are trying to open an audio file that it can't understand, when actually you are trying to open a corrupt p...

When the pop-up appears that says "Select stream(s) to import", you need to select the streams that you want to import. You didn't select any.

I need to record events (ideally with a timestamp) that happen randomly and I am only able to detect it even once it has happened. The given solution should be able to automatically record approximately 1 min. before the threshold and a programmable time after it. Audacity is not suitable for that....
