Re: Awful knocking sound to get rid of

Do you still have the original recording before effects were used? If so, please post a short sample of that in WAV or FLAC format.
I'm doubtful how much can be done to reduce the knocking, but we have a better chance with the pre-effects recording.

It reduces the volume
I've already explained that here: viewtopic.php?p=387046#p387046
If you don't want to reduce the volume, set "Reduce amplitude to allow for restored peaks (dB)" to 0 dB.

Last I looked, it will only repair one at a time.
I think you're thinking of the "Repair" effect rather than "Clip Fix".

Re: Revert to 2.3.2

My guess is that you have added a PPA to your sources. PPA's can be useful for getting new versions of software before they are officially released by the distro. The downside is that they are usually unsupported, so not suitable for users that can't fix problems that may occur. Audacity 2.2.1 works...

Re: Revert to 2.3.2

As you can see here, Ubuntu 18.04 (including Xubuntu, Kubuntu etc) have Audacity 2.2.1: https://packages.ubuntu.com/search?keyw ... ection=all

Re: Revert to 2.3.2

Where did you install 2.3.2 and 2.3.3 from? They are not in the Xubuntu 18.04 repository.

Version 2.1.2
That version is too old for the new Themes.
There was an experimental version of themes in the ancient 1.3.x series, but that was discontinued.

Ubuntu 18.04 has Audacity 2.2.1 which has the new themes.

I've got 2.3.3 running on my desktop
Super :)

A lot has changed since 2.2.1, so if you find things that are not as before, check the manual first (in the Help menu), but if you're stuck, just start a new forum topic.

Re: Clip Fix in 2.2.1

Is it a file that comes with the OS, Windows? "api-ms-win-runtime-|1-1-0.dll" is part of Windows. It is the "Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio". If your computer's version is too old, then it will need to be updated to allow recent versions of Audacity to ru...

Re: Immersive Effect?

As the presenter of that lecture was doing Computer Science research at Cambridge University, My guess is that he wrote those plug-ins himself as part of his research. I've not found those plug-ins available for download, though Trebor's suggestion ("Panagement") looks like a good alternat...
