Re: Quickie! Can I install 2.3.3 with Linux Mint 17.3
You will probably be struggling, due to the age of Mint 17.3.
It should be possible to build Audacity 2.3.3 on Mint 18 or later.
Mint 19 and later have Audacity 2.2.1 (from the main Ubuntu repository).

Re: Resizing tracks not saved
How many tracks in your projects?
What size do you want to resize them to?

Re: no sound wave when recording
Do you have "makup gain" enabled in the compressor settings?
Does the same happen if you use the "Amplify" effect instead of the Compressor effect?
While recording, what level do you see in the Audacity recording meter?

Re: Macro command to toggle selection / deselection
So here's my conclusion. The Shift+Up/Down-arrow commands are behaving correctly (in the above examples) given that they are extending or contracting the selection based on the first-selected track being the "anchor" for the selection. I think that's the intended use for these commands, t...

Re: RMS normalize plugin
What I gather is that Nyquist is not Audacity and Audacity is not Nyquist; Yes that's correct. Nyquist is a programming language for audio, and is available separately from Audacity: https://www.cs.cmu.edu/~music/nyquist/ (Nyquist was created by Roger Dannenberg, who is also one of the co-founders ...

Re: Macro command to toggle selection / deselection
But have you played around with the Move Focus to Next and Select and the Move Focus to Previous and Select commands? The "Extra" menu is hidden by default as many of the commands are not useful as menu commands, but they need to be menu commands so that they are available for shortcuts ,...

Re: Increase playback speed without changing pitch for audiobook editing?
The NT1-A USB has a "presence boost" in the range 2 to 10 kHz, rising to around +7 dB in the 5 to 6 Hz range.
This does not suit all voices and may overemphasize sibilance.
That presence boost may be countered by applying Equalization to reduce that range.

Re: 2.4.0 release date?
The Audacity team will be deciding on plans for the release after 2.4.0, in the week after 2.4.0 has been released.
Ideas currently being floated suggest that 2.4.1 (or whatever it will be called) may be a long release cycle.
