Re: anybody recognize this error?

The current Audacity code should build correctly with wx3.0 or wx3.1. Audacity recommends wx3.1 as it fixes a number of issues in 3.0, particularly some accessibility issues. I sometimes build with one and sometimes the other (on Xubuntu 18.04) to check that both work.

Re: Opening Error

Question #1: just downloaded version 2.3.3 but can't open ... I get a pop up which says " error opening recording device. That is probably due to a Windows security setting. See: https://alphamanual.audacityteam.org/man/Error_opening_sound_device#W10mic Question #2: i record podcasts for the b...

Re: Jumping to Specific Point in Track

Audacity has very limited support for MIDI. The relevant documentation is here: https://manual.audacityteam.org/man/note_tracks.html

Re: Noise reduction parameters

As far as I'm aware, it doesn't have units. It's just an arbitrary "lower <---> higher" scale. It is similar to the "Threshold" setting of a Noise Gate. If set too low (below the noise floor), then the effect will do nothing. If set too high, then it will remove sounds that are a...

The people that help on this forum are volunteers, that willingly give their time to help others. They should not have to put up with rudeness. Perhaps it was not your intention to appear rude, in which case I will happily delete this topic and we can start over. When asking questions, please also i...

Re: Macro/mod-script strange behavior

So am I right in thinking that the reason you want to get data back from Audacity into Python, is so that you can select from the end of the first silence to the end of the track?

As usual, ignorant behavior on behalf of Audacity
Probably not the best attitude when asking for help.

Re: BOLD Split Lines Vanish, Appear, and Become Invisible

Split lines should be fairly "bold". I don't know exactly how bold they should appear on your computer as I don't use Windows, I may be using a different screen resolution, I may have other display settings.

I suspect that the faint lines are due to some sort of minor bug.

Re: Adjusting scroll speed?

If you have a mouse with a mouse wheel, then you can start "scrubbing" playback, and rotate the mouse wheel to change the play speed. The slowest supported speed is x0.01 (100 times slower). https://manual.audacityteam.org/man/scr ... eking.html

After entering -.480
Is that your actual figure? "-0.480"?
The time is in milliseconds. A typical value is -100
