Re: Cursor not moving during playback

In case you've not seen the solution(s) yet, the problem may be fixed by any of these methods: 1) When you log into the computer, select an Xorg session rather than a Wayland session. 2) Modify the “audacity.desktop” file to include: Exec=env GDK_BACKEND=x11 UBUNTU_MENUPROXY=0 audacity %Fz 3) Build ...

Re: Can't record with Audacity 2.3.3 on Mac OS X 10.15

If your version of macOS is Catalina, Apple broke support for Audacity shortly after the last Audacity release. The workaround is here: viewtopic.php?f=47&t=107162
The next Audacity release will fix this problem.

Re: effect failed to initialize

With Audacity closed, open the hidden folder:

C:\Users\<your user name>\AppData\Roaming\audacity\

and delete the three files:
  • audacity.cfg
  • pluginregistry.cfg
  • pluginsettings.cfg
Then launch Audacity.

Re: Power spectral density over time

Give this Nyquist plug-in a go. It is fairly slow, and it is limited to mono tracks only. Using a low sample rate will speed up the process a lot. The output is in the form of a list: "time <tab> value" where "time" is in seconds and "value" is the PSD. The PSD value is...

Re: Power spectral density over time

Audacity does not have a built in way to do that (it's not very relevant to Audacity's primary role as an audio editor), but I think it is possible to write a Nyquist script to give the required data. This is rather complicated to do with Nyquist, so it may take me a while to work up a solution. I'l...

Re: Power spectral density over time

The standard release version of Audacity can produce a visual representation, but not a graph. See: https://manual.audacityteam.org/man/spe ... _view.html

Re: The absolute best way to record guitar...

I would like to find out if anyone else out there has been using the CODE with Audacity. Thanks, would appreciate some time saving tips so I can concentrate on music, not engineering. I doubt there will be many users of that particular make and model on this forum. Perhaps worth trying the Marshall...

This happened after a crash due to low memory.
Running out of memory is a very bad thing for any program. It is likely that running out of memory will cause the autosave file to be incomplete. I expect it will be impossible to recover this project.

Re: data folder won't load upon recovery after crash - heeeelp

I can't understand why it won't load my Data Folder upon recovery. The last couple of lines of the log indicate the problem: 22:09:11: Error: Could not parse file "/Users/serbancatona/Library/Application Support/audacity/AutoSave/Wirkungsquantum - 2020-04-03 18-17-02 N-785.autosave". Erro...
