Re: Problems with FFmpeg in version 1.3.12 and problem upgrading to version 2.3.3

Does anyone know why I would be getting this error? The error message is most likely to be because your computer's version of "Microsoft C++ Redistributable" is out of date. You can get it from Microsoft here: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/2977003/the-latest-supported-visual-c-...

I wish I had the answer because I have the exact same problem. Did you ever get it fixed?

Re: where is the mono option

on my PC I installed 2.3 which does not have the option of changing to Mono after inverting. Where is the Mono option since it is not on the dropdown menu for each track? Please read the other replies in this thread. Also, the dropdown track menu for Audacity 2.3.3 is documented here: https://manua...

Re: Missing External Drives

Windows and Ubuntu have separate installations, both on the C drive in their respective partitions. So there's no removal of discs. What I'm wondering, is if Windows is "locking" the external drives in some way. That's why I suggested doing a "safely remove" in Windows (to unmou...

Re: Input/Output settings

I thought you said set the playback device to your real output device.... " Audacity's " playback devices needs to be set to the real output device. How would I know whether my web browser uses any particular sound output...?? The web browser will use the default system playback device, s...

Re: Small bug when adding ID3-tags

I know why the double year thing happens, and I'm guessing there's something similar with the comments. Id3 tags have two different date tags (TYER and TDRC), and Audacity writes both of them so that whichever other applications read, they can see the year. A few apps can read both, in which case yo...

Re: Missing External Drives

When you last logged out of Windows, did you "safely remove" the drives and completely shut down Windows? If not, try that, then boot into Linux and see if there's any difference.

Re: Compressing some tracks but not others

From that JPG I can see that you have either TWO mono tracks, or ONE stereo track. The file "Snippet-Peaceful-Ocean.wav" is a stereo file, so my assumption is that your project contains one stereo track. This is what a stereo track looks like: https://manual.audacityteam.org/m/images/c/c1/...

After about 25 or more seconds it STOPS recording.
How consistent is the time before stopping? Is it always very close to 25 seconds or does it vary a lot?

What precisely happens when it "stops"?

What are you recording? What equipment are you using?

Re: Missing External Drives

First thing, I would recommend NOT opening Audacity Projects directly from an external drive. External drives are great for reading / writing big files, but not so good for low latency access of thousands of tiny files (such as Audacity data). They should be fine for importing / exporting audio file...
