Check the USB lead and ensure that it is plugged in securely.
Avoid using a USB hub between the Scarlett and the computer.

"Save project" is for an Audacity project, not for an audio file. Don't be nervous ;) That message is just for your information. It's not an "error", it's telling you that you if you proceed, you will save a project and not an audio file. In other words, you are doing it correct...
