Re: Building Audacity 2.3.3 is OK,but recording doesn't work

Thanks.
I think it's a minor bug that "git describe" says "DarkAudacity".
"DarkAudacity" is a side project of one of the Audacity developers. The problem seems to just be a "tagging" issue that does not affect the code itself.

Re: Export in FLAC and keep original kbps

My guess is that the file was encoded with dbPoweramp. That's the only GUI application that I'm aware of that has the (pointless) option of "no compression". "Normal" FLAC encoding will usually give around 40% file size reduction with no loss in quality. High compression settings...

Re: Audacity won't let export the file as a wav or a mp3

Judging by the number of postings, exporting as mp3 on a Mac seems to be a huge issue. Most of the problems on this forum regarding MP3 export date back to when the MP3 export library (LAME) was a separate download. The biggest problem was due to a large number of Mac users failing to read / follow...

DarkAudacity-2.1.3x-6005-gffa470124
Where did you get that?

The correct GitHub repository for the authentic original Audacity is: https://github.com/audacity/audacity

Re: Recent glitches on playback

Is Audacity displaying the track in the normal "Waveform" view?
Have you customised any audio settings?
What anti-virus / security products do you use?

Re: Error 9997 Invalid Sample Rate- Have tried to fix and nothing is working

In the Mac "Audio Devices", can the USB audio codec 1 "output" be set to "stereo 44.1 kHz"?

Audacity's "Quality" settings should normally be set to the default settings (as shown here: https://manual.audacityteam.org/man/qua ... ences.html)

Re: Audacity 2.3.3 keeps hanging on my new PC

Audacity 2.4.0 is due to be released very soon. I think the problem is likely to be caused by some existing problem on your computer (millions of people successfully use Audacity 2.3.3 on Windows 10). A couple of things I would suggest: 1) Check that your computer's "drivers" are up to dat...

Re: repair more than 128 samples

Steve, I still wonder why the algorithm above isn't used yet to be created an Audacity integrated "Sound interpolation" effect? The algorithm has some quite severe limitations which I think would need to be improved before it can go mainstream. A simple example to demonstrate the main lim...

Re: Export in FLAC and keep original kbps

I have a FLAC file that has a bitrate of "1417 kbps" That is peculiar. Did you encode it yourself, or did you download it like that? Is it a so called "hi def" audio file? This webpage can analyze the file. https://mediaarea.net/MediaInfoOnline What does it say about the origina...

Re: Feedback when trying to record

apologies jumping this topic, but I can´t work out where else to go to post a new query! For future reference, to start a new top, go to the Windows board and click the "New Topic" button. When recording with a microphone, use headphones and not speakers. You don't want the microphone to ...
