Re: mono usb headset - record earphone to L, mike to R?
What I'd really like is to have two WASPI rows for inputs, one for Left and one for Right. Could then assign the microphone to Left (my voice) and the earphone to right (the remote people on the call). Would then have each side of the conversation on its own track for separate level, EQ, etc. Unfor...

Re: Balance audio reset on startup
How do I stop Audacity from doing this? I don't think that you can. For Audacity to be able to use an audio device, it has to request an initialized connection to the sound system. If the sound system resets the balance in response to that request, there's nothing that Audacity can do about that. I...

Re: set record start point
I want to re-record over existing track from the beginning. If you record a track, then immediately want to re-record the track (and you haven't done anything else in between), then the simplest way is "Ctrl + Z" to Undo the first recording. If the original recording wasn't the immediatel...

Re: Problem with compressed audio file
You are misinterpreting the problem. When an audio file is "Imported" into Audacity, the audio data is copied from the file into the Audacity project. By default the imported audio is converted to 32-bit float PCM. Thus the format of the imported file is irrelevant to actions within Audaci...

Re: Import Raw Data default parameters?
For those interested in this feature request, would it be sufficient if the Import RAW dialog had a checkbox option: [ X ] Remember settings When selected, whatever settings are applied will be the default settings the next time that Import RAW is used. When not selected, Import RAW will attempt to ...

Re: Feedback: Loudness Normalization
I'm thinking a built-in effect so the stats (including "loudness") can be measured quickly and accurately according to documented "standards". I think there will still be a place for an "ACX" analysis plug-in, but it could be refined to show only the information that is...

Re: Vocal Pitch Analysis/Correction
Audacity can't do that.
I think the right tool for the job is Melodyne.

You can already export as 24-bit or 32-bit float.

Re: Broken Project (Orphan Block Files / missing audio)
I think it's toast. To reduce the chance of it happening again, I'd suggest that you update Audacity.
The current version is 2.3.3, though Audacity 2.4.0 is due to be released very soon.

Re: Cannot get ACX check plug in
What happens if you use the Effect installer for ACX Check? Same as any other Nyquist plug-in. It copies the plug-in file to the "per user" plug-in folder. You would then enable it in the Plug-in Manager. The main benefits of the installer are: 1) You don't need to manually navigate to a ...
