Re: Problem with effects

I am trying to enable leveler, but it is impossible for me, it cannot be enabled The Leveler effect has been retired (it is no longer included with Audacity). For evening out levels (the purported purpose of the Leveler effect), use the "Limiter" effect: https://manual.audacityteam.org/ma...

Re: Problem with effects

Thanks for the feedback about Flatpak Neil. Good to hear that it is at least mostly working.

Re: Record New Track (Shift + R) Not Working

Actually figured it out in the end. Just needed to change the speaker to "samplerate" (see screenshot)... whatever that means Well done figuring that out. What that means is that there is something seriously weird about the sound system for Linux apps on Chromebook. (It doesn't actually m...

Re: Wrong Cover Art

Audacity does not support cover art, so any audio files exported from Audacity are guaranteed to not have embedded artwork.

Re: The switch of build system from autotools to cmake isn't getting through to packagers

I was worried that might happen. As I understand it, the next Audacity release will be pretty soon, and autotools support will be removed, so it will be totally obvious that it doesn't work. I've managed to get the Flatpak folks to transition from autotools to cmake Thanks for doing that. Do they ha...

Re: Advice for exporting / importing tracks in multi project workflow?

should I export from the first project as WAV format, or can I export as M4A, without a degradation of quality? Use WAV format. M4A will degrade the quality. If quality is of overriding importance, use "32-bit float WAV". These are double the size of a normal 16-bit WAV but 32-bit float g...

Re: Audacity keeps quitting

I think it is something about this particular track that's messing things up. I think you are correct. There's probably a bad bit of data, and quite likely that it is only a tiny bit that is bad. If you can work out where the bad bit is, then you can probably use "Export Selected Audio" t...
