Re: problems with api-ms-win-crt-runtime-l1-1-0.dll
Windows 7 is no longer officially supported by Audacity (or by Microsoft). Your computer's version of "Visual C++ Redistributable" is probably too old. To update it, download and run the installer from Microsoft: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/2977003/the-latest-supported-visual-...

Re: heavy dark lines! (an easy one I'm sure)
Would I need a password to use it? Depending on how your computer security is set up, you may need an admin password to install it (as you would for installing any app). You don't need a password for Audacity, it's free, open source software. Would I have access to all my existing files Audacity 2....

Re: Script/batch convert WAVs from 32 to 8 bit?
Yes Audacity can help. You need to make a Macro containing the "ExportWAV" command. Before using the Macro you need to "prime the pump". The ExportWAV command does not have any parameters - it uses the last used settings, so before running the Macro, manually export a file as 8-b...

Re: Asking the user to enable plug-ins right after installing them is cumbersome
I've not been able to install plugins either manually or with the plug-in installer. It feels like the software is actively fighting against me, I want to automate panning a track and right now the only solution I can see is to export the files to audacity and do it there. As that's a different que...

Re: Audacity 2.4.2
Audacity 2.4.2 is about to enter "String Freeze", which allows the translators a little time to catch up on recent changes. After that comes "Code Freeze" when we enter testing. If all looks good, then there will be a "Release Candidate" (RC). When an RC passes quality ...

Re: Audacity Plugin for Glitch Art
I think it's possible , but difficult. Audacity does not understand Tiff (or bmp, or any other image format), so you would need to handle those conversions outside of Audacity (for example, in Python) Audacity does not currently have a Macro command for "Import RAW" or "Export RAW&quo...

Re: problem with audacity cross-platform sound editor
You're probably running out of disk space. A 1 hour stereo MP3 file will expand to well over 1GB when decoded on Import.

Re: heavy dark lines! (an easy one I'm sure)
Normally you should not get split lines from cut and paste, and should happen less in the current version of Audacity (2.4.1).
The current version may be downloaded via the Audacity website: https://www.audacityteam.org/download/windows/
