Re: Strange recording problem
It sounds no worse than I'd expect from a built in mic. They're only really designed for dictation. The phasing effect could perhaps be caused by AGC processing on the thinkpad. For high quality recording on a pocket sized device, I'd recommend the Zoom H2 - you can then dump the audio onto your PC ...

Re: Major problem please reply
It depends on the sound effect, stereo placement, etc. but probably not possible.

Re: HELP_ STATIC RECORDING
Record through a "line-in" socket rather than a "mic" socket. If you're recording with a microphone, you should go through a mixing desk or mic. pre-amp before connecting to your sound card. Check your recording levels: Record at a reasonably loud level (but not too high). Take c...

Re: Behringer Guitar Link UCG102 USB Interface
If all else fails, read the instructions :D http://www.behringerdownload.de/UCG102/UCG102_198_ENG_Rev_A.pdf It seems that there are alternative drivers for this device - Generic Windows drivers for "driver-less" USB plug and play, and Low latency USB audio drivers (ASIO). There's some addi...

Re: Changing voice to a different voice? help!
You could try the "Center pan Remover" (often called Vocal Remover) effect to try and remove the original vocal (may or may not work - it depends on the original recording), http://audacityteam.org/download/nyquistplugins and then adding a replacement vocal

Re: Separate tracks in the mix?
Following on from your "solid tone" test. If you import the sections back into Audacity and zoom in on the ends, is there any evidence of silence being added? If the waveforms show that the wav's end dead on where you split them, then it must be something to do with your playback. If there...

Re: Complete novice/beginner
This is just an overview, you may need to search the forum, or Audacity documentation for details on specific parts. A Hi-Fi cassette player will work better than a portable, so I'll assume that you can get hold of one of those. With a suitable lead, connect the outputs from the tape deck (usually 2...

Re: recording vinyl
The "Noise Removal" and "Click Removal" effects are fairly magical :D It may be that you are not getting the most out of them - difficult to tell without hearing the "before" and "after". Any chance that you could upload a couple of samples and post links, I'd...

Re: TV is ruining my life/recording.
So you can't here your dictation because of the "background" TV noise? Try restricting the audio bandwidth to around 300Hz to 5kHz - that may help by reducing the amount of non-speech noise. To do this, use the Equalisation effect and turn down everything below 300Hz, and everything above ...
