Re: High pitch whine?
You misunderstand me natewestra. When I said "it's probably not there", I meant that it is probably not present in the actual recording. If that is the case, then the "high pitch whine" is probably being created by the playback system. If you read my full post, and follow the lin...

Re: Vista Recording With A Dell Computer
The Samson C01U has driver software that gives you programmable gain, probably also on other models.
Note also that Audacity does not support ASIO drivers.
All the Samson studio condenser mics should be capable of recording a whisper.

And an answer from another thread:

Re: Audio From DVD - Adjusting Levels and Removing Clicks
They both make the sound louder (or quieter), but one is a "destructive" edit (actually changes the recorded wave), and the other is "non-destructive" (doesn't change the recorded wave).
Try them both to see the difference.

Re: Audacity for multi-tracking
Yes you can do simple multi-track recording with Audacity. I'm not sure why you had the problem changing the volume on the guitar tracks. The recording procedure should be the same for both the guitar tracks and the vocal tracks (although you may be using a different input on your soundcard device)....

Re: Audio From DVD - Adjusting Levels and Removing Clicks

Re: Clicks
I was assuming that redsonja84 was using a conventional (analogue) mic. rather than a USB mic (due to the reference to "jack plug"), but the rest of alatham's comments are good. In particular, some detail about the hardware and software that you are using. Does Audacity play back audio fil...

How about a FAQ section?
Is there a FAQ section for Audacity (all versions)? I can't find one, but I think one would make a useful addition to the forum. It could include things like: Getting started Save and Export Disaster recovery Selecting the correct soundcard input Latency correction strange noises on your recordings ...
