Re: Recording from digital radio (DAB) / Edirol UA-1EX
So it records fine at 44.1kHz, but "peppered with holes" at 48kHz - The difference here is that there is more "bits per second" at 48kHz, and it sounds like the system is having difficulty keeping up with that amount of data. You could try increasing the "Audio Buffers"...

Re: Keyboard shortcut for REC-continue
Press "Shift" and release it, then press "R" to resume the recording. Also you can use "P" to pause and resume the recording, but this is slightly different. Using "P" for pause does not create a new history item, so if you "record - pause - record - paus...

Re: Sound Card for Linux
If you can still get one, the SBLive (value) are cheap and decent sound quality - I use one on my Xubuntu machine, no problem with drivers, it was picked up straight away. Only problem that I had was that on my old Pentium 500 the Audio buffers had to be set really high (speed performance was terrib...

Funny that - I thought it was more intuitive (took me ages to find it in 1.2)waxcylinder wrote:Personally I think that this is a slightly less intuitive interface than in 1.2 - but it does work

Re: Problems when importing audio file
If you're on Windows, then there's a free format converter called SUPER that can do it: http://www.erightsoft.com/SUPER.htmlwaxcylinder wrote:1. find and use some converter software to convert your file to a type that Audacity supports

Re: Compression
The difference is pretty subtle, but the default of 3.25 works pretty well. For just giving music a bit of a gentle boost, try something like this as a starting point: RMS/peak: 0 Attack time: 5 Release time: 50 Threshold: -6 (assuming that the audio is already normalised - if not, set it to about 6...

Re: Recording problem
Sorry to say that's a non-starter - Windows Sound Recorder only allows you to record 60 seconds at a time.kozikowski wrote:Wait a minute. You're on a PC. Open Windows Sound Recorder and see if that works any better.
(annemarie said that the problem occurred after 2 minutes of recording)

Re: Import WAV problem
the audio comes from a mp3-player recording. it's large, about 32 mb. it's a wav file, 32 bit.when i try to import it, an error message appears that tells me audacity can't recognize that file format. i try then to import it as a brut file, and it's all noise.if i try to listen to it in my winamp, ...

Re: Recording streaming or the sound outputs of other progra
I don't understand - you say "Yes JACK can do it, but on Windows it start being messy", but then you seem to be talking about a Linux setup, rather than Windows.
