Re: Really Bad Recording Problem

Your answer lifestream, was a few posts previously in this thread: Hi, What recording device is displayed in Audacity? I had your described problem until I figured that the recording source should be either "Line in" or "Microphone". I had it set to "Wave Out Mix" which...

Re: Records EVERYTHING! THIS IS BAD!

Check the settings in the "Windows Mixer" - if that's set to "What You Hear" or something similar, then it will record everything that is sent to your speakers (irrespective of whether your speakers are physically on or off). If you want to record from the line-in (only), then yo...

Re: Audio buffer size

The audio buffer is set in "Edit -> Preferences -> Audio I/O"
However unless you have changed it radically, I doubt that that is the root of the problem - the default is 100 milliseconds ( 0.1 seconds)

Re: Recordings are Skipping. Any ideas?

The cpu seems to be peaking fairly high, but not excessively (a bit hard to see in the picture)
I'll be interested to see how it compares with the snowball plugged in.

It may also be worth checking out this thing that I found:

Re: Really Bad Recording Problem

@nachman and Lifestream, Try doing EXACTLY the same thing, but with the microphone switched off / unplugged. If your new track is silent (which it should be) then the problem is probably caused by "spill-over" or "cross-talk" from the headphones to the microphone. If the new trac...

Re: Can I trust Audacity's Noise & Click Removal?

I am interested in video work with a consumer camera which is not brilliant for locking out the sound of background motor noise - some are better than others - I would like to remove as much of this noise as possible either with audacity or with a plug in or with other software. Anyone have any exp...

nVIDIA USB controller chips

I've noticed that quite a few people using USB audio devices have problems with latency and audio drop-outs, while other people use the same devices with no problems at all - So, I've been doing a bit of searching, and found this from Tascam: PCs with nVIDIA USB controller chips may not offer optimu...

Re: .act conversion

".act" is a low quality audio format (8kbps) Fortunately very rare now (the quality is awful). It was originally used on voice recorders when memory was expensive. You will need to convert it to wav before you can do anything with it. Your best bet is either: "Sound Converter Tool 2.0...

Re: Recording problem

As you can see from these screenshots, we are looking at a massive increase in severe drop-outs. What we don't know is why, and why after 2 minutes. annemarie said "The original audio is still on and works fine -- so it's not a source issue." so the issue is happening when recording into A...
