Re: Recordings are Skipping. Any ideas?
It's those CPU usage peaks that get me - on my old box I'm at over 84% usage when I record, but it's pretty stable within a couple of percent, so it records without any drop outs or glitches (yes I know I need a better machine :D) Whatever is running that causes those spikes is probably the culprit....

Re: Sine wave tune
:D I just love the unusual things that people do with Audacity :D This one is right up my street, it's the kind of weird thing I do all the time. Yes it's a little time consuming, but here's how I approach it: First create a "palette" of sounds - these are the individual "notes" ...

Re: WMV to WAV/MP3
I use "SUPER" which can convert most formats, including WMA
It's a pain to download, and the user interface is a bit unusual, but it's free and it works: http://www.erightsoft.com/SUPER.html

Re: ISSUE WITH CREATING A RINGTONE
lol, I was just answering the other post, then it was gone. (exactly the kind of irritating confusion that cross-posting causes) Oh well, I'll paste my response here - it pretty well restates alatham's reply, but has a little extra info thrown in. To select a track, click on the box on the left of t...

Re: Sound Card for Linux
Apparently the M-Audio Audiophile 2496 PCI works well in Linux (with ALSA), and gets very good reviews (example below)

Re: Recording problem
That's not what happens. Audio recording or capture creates new files and the virus software insists on inspecting each file as it's being created to "protect you." I was talking specifically about AVG anti-virus, and the difference between when it does it's background monitoring, and whe...

Re: Won't record
So you're recording from a USB device? You've just added USB speakers? and now you can't record? ... if that's the case, try unplugging your speakers - reboot - and try again. ... if that's not the case, you'll need to say what your setup is and exactly what the problem is, rather than leaving every...

Re: Recording problem
1. I have used the line-in feed with other sources (both music and speech audio-cassettes hooked up from their audio out to laptop) and it worked fine. So the hardware works ok. 2. I have used another software - DC Millenium -- to try and extract audio from my videocassette and that worked but the ...

Re: Audio buffer size
I can't say anything specific about Vita as I don't use it, but there's all sorts of things can cause poor audio performance: On-board sound cards are generally pretty bad. Fragmentation causes bottlenecks for the data getting onto the hard drive Some anti-virus programs can slow everything down Oth...

Re: Recording streaming or the sound outputs of other progra
There's little enough documentation on the well established Jack for Linux, so I doubt that anyone is going to spend much time documenting support for experimental software before it reaches a stable release version. The best solution that I've found for Windows is the Kx project drivers (with a sui...
