Re: Capturing audio from dvd
It depends on your hardware, but on Windows (or Linux) it can usually be achieved by selecting “Wave Out", “Stereo Mix” or "What You Hear" as the recording source. An alternative method it to "rip" the audio directly from the DVD, then convert it to wav format, however, sinc...

Re: Audacity 1.3.4 on Slackware current :(
- Very long reaction to drop-down menu activation (example: edit-preferences). No such thing for other software. Is this specific to v. 1.3.4, or any version of Audacity? The reason that I ask is that I found Audacity to be very sluggish on my Linux machine (Ubuntu) until I installed the rt kernel....

Re: audacity crashes on startup!
To be honest, if v 1.3.4 beta works ok, I'd use that - IMHO it's a lot better than v 1.2.x
If you really MUST have v 1.2.6 (though I can't see why) check out this page: http://audacityteam.org/wiki/index.php? ... s_Vista_OS

Re: newbi-change speed of audio
Audacity does not support video. If you want to process the audio track from a video, you need to use your video software to export the audio as a wav file. You can then process it in Audacity - Export (not "Save") from Audacity as a wav file, and import it back into your video project. If...

Re: need help using Presonus Firebox with Audacity
1. I can't get the second input on the Firebox to recognize audio (I can hear it in my headphones, but there is no monitoring of the sound in Audacity If you mean that it won't record in Audacity, You need to set the number of recording channels in "Edit -> Preferences -> Audio I/O" 2. At...

Re: Tag Editor for FLAC
"FLAC" and "Ogg Vorbis" are not the same - they are different codecs. FLAC is a lossless codec, Ogg Vorbis is a lossy codec - also there support for tags are different from ID3 tags. For whichever one you are using, refer to their documentation and they specify their tag support....

Re: It worked, finally.....but
Yes, the examples I gave are UK, but I'm in the UK so I gave examples that I know about, and as synthfreek said, they are also available with US and European spec. I wouldn't even consider using a $20 preamp. The examples I gave start at about $40 US and you might be surprised - the sound quality is...

Re: Recordings are Skipping. Any ideas?
This is bugging me (but I guess not as much as you butter). Hope this is not covering old ground, but have you tried recording from an analogue source? (for example a cheapo computer mic?) I've done a search on Google, and you are not alone with this problem. Certainly USB mics have much greater lat...

Re: Recording from digital radio (DAB) / Edirol UA-1EX
Cool - glad it's working for you now - Audacity just seems to be getting better :) Of course, with the beta version, there is always the chance that something may break in later betas, but for me v. 1.3.4 has been great. I notice there is a facility to display, save or print the interface parameter ...
