Your USB turntable is probably not a playback device, so you need to select a playback device (such as your sound card) in "Preferences" for playback.Arjen wrote:The prefference settings are set to USB Codex both sound recording and sound playback.

Re: From audacity to mp3 player
You may be getting confused by the "Save" option in Audacity (lots of people do). IN Audacity, when you "Save", it will save a project file, and also create a folder with all the data for that project. This is not normal audio. To get normal audio files that you can use elsewhere...

Re: help with delay in earphones...please
Switch OFF the "play software through" - as you have worked out, that is what is causing the problem. In order to hear yourself, look in the "Windows Mixer" and make sure that in the playback section "Microphone" is not muted. If you can't see a slider in the playback s...

Re: Tag Editor for FLAC
Yes the tagging system is the same for FLAC and Ogg Vorbis (just different terminology - "Tags" and "Comments" respectively), but they are different from "ID3" tags. (The second link that I gave gives details). Yes, there are some known issues with the tag editor in Aud...

Re: Changing voice to a different voice? help!
Can you actually change someone's voice with this? No, but you can synthesize a "replacement" vocal. It's actually a hybrid sampler/synthesizer - It sounds a bit strange (synthetic) as a lead vocal, but it's pretty good for backing vocals. Also, it has the advantage that it will "sin...

Re: Audacity 1.3.4 on Slackware current :(
There was a real problem with 1.3.3 and mp3 export : http://audacityteam.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=587 That's a shame, but at least there's a work round. "Error while opening sound device. Please check the output device settings and the project sample rate." This seems to be a ra...

Re: bad sound
I checked in Audacity and the dl from Wal-Mart says 44100HZ and the ripped from cd's say 22050HZ. ... That seems strange. CD's ALWAYS use 44100 Hz. I presume that you still have the original files somewhere safe (the downloaded file and the CD rips) - just in case anything goes wrong, keep a backup...

Re: Audacity 1.3.4 on Slackware current :(
This doesn't answer your question, but mp3 Export should be available in v 1.3.3 - it uses LAME, the same as v 1.3.4

Re: bad sound
Sorry, my mistake, I mis-read it and thought you were making a CD  Yes, wav files take up more room than mp3's, usually about 8 times more, depending on how much compression you use. Your slide show program (PTE? what's that?) may only accept certain types of mp3. MP3s can be variable bit rate...
