I'm running Windows XP, if that makes any difference. Yes that does make a big difference. First check to see if there is an "Uninstall" option - either from your MultiMix installation CD, or any MultiMix installation folder, or in "Control Panel -> Add / Remove programs" If not...

Do the tracks start of as grey, and then become blue after you have recorded?

Also, do the "input level meters" light up red when you are recording?

Nice idea, and it gave kozikowski the opportunity for some colourful thoughts :) but rather than using sub-sonic waves, why not just generate 3600 seconds of silence?

Yes, you can zoom in and out by clicking on the vertical scale. The maximum amplitude is from +1 to -1 (or 0 dB if you switch to the dB scale).

There's not much you can do about it. Filtering can make marginal improvements, but not a lot.

In 1.2 you have to do it manually with the "Time Shift tool", which is a bit of a pain, but can be done if you zoom in close. The principal is the same, (but it's loads easier in 1.3 )

This is a lot easier in v.1.3.x but you can still do it in v.1.2 The difference is that v. 1.2 does not support multiple clips in the same track, so you will need one track for your "start" tone, and another track for your "stop" tone. When you have pasted the tone into the track...
