Re: Multiple Tracks Playing Simultaneously

If you have multiple tracks in Audacity and you only want to select some of them, you can either select the track(s) that you want to export and use "Export selection as..." or, just delete the tracks that you don't want before you export.

Is that what you mean?

Re: need help using Presonus Firebox with Audacity

It may not be possible to record from multiple inputs of your Presonus Firebox with Audacity - it all depends on how the drivers work. Many multi-channel devices work by appearing as multiple devices, If this is the case then it won't work with Audacity as Audacity can only use one device at a time....

Re: Equalization effect not working

Click on a track selects the track, but not the wave - this is normal (and the same with many other audio programs). However, when you select "Equalisation", that should trigger it to select the entire track (it does in Windows). If this is not happening with Mac OS X, then it may, as you ...

Re: No sound on playback

Try selecting the Microsoft Sound Mapper output. If other Windows programs can play audio, the the Windows Sound mapper setting should work.

Edit -> Preferences -> File Formats

There's a drop down list to selct the default bit rate for mp3's.

(Note that in Audacity v.1.3.x it is different, and is selected when you export)

Re: Didn't see it covered here..........

If you are using the "Project" button to create new tracks you must be using v 1.2, not 1.3 (this is the board for 1.3.x and Windows). Assuming that it's Audacity v. 1.2.6 Go to "Edit -> Preferences" and on the "Audio I/O" tab, click the box that says "Play other t...

Re: USB mic not recording w/ surround speakers, faint withou

It's not unusual to get less than 0 dB as the maximum signal from a microphone. With my cheap soundcard and mic the ansolute max I can get is -4.2 dB, and trying to push it any higher just clips (distorts) the audio. However -14 dB seems a bit low. Some soundcard drivers have a "tick box" ...

Re: how to I fix /dev/dsp ??

When you say ALSA: default didn't work, what didn't work about it? Did you get silence, or an error messages? Were there any messages printed on the console? I got the message: "Error opening sound device. Please check the input device settings and the Project Sample Rate" or "Please...

Re: Cannot get a skip-free recording out of Audacity...

Congratulations - the on-board sound card looked to be the weak point in the system, which is why I suggested that you tested that first - and Bingo ! Merry Christmas! You will get much better quality with the SBLive as well, just watch out for the built in "enhancements" (such as EAX) whi...
