Re: recording problem
if i pause the noise is still there on the speakers until i stop recording. When you pause, the mp3 stream is still playing, but is distorted? Would you say that the the "distortion" is like the distortion from recording something too loud, or is it more like the sound is breaking up? Wha...

Re: HELP HELP
You need to have the USB turntable selected as the record input device, and your soundcard selected as the playback device. These are set in "Edit -> Preferences -> Audio I/O". Also, make sure that you are using a current version of Audacity (v.1.2.6 stable, or 1.3.4 beta), some USB turnta...

Re: Audio disappears in middle of audio track
How do I get that in the course of a normal edit--on a Mac, which doesn't normally have virus or stability problems? And how do you afflict only two people out of the whole class? Well that's the question isn't it :D You could well be right about a bad VST plugin (assuming it's not the work of the ...

Not sure if you're looking for conventional mic or USB?
There's a couple of topics that may help:

Unless you can upload the track somewhere and post a link so we can look at it I guess we'll never know.

Re: Newbie: Stops recording after a few minutes
There have been a few frustrating issues with USB inputs, but the first thing you should do is grab a copy of "1.2.6 stable" or "1.3.4 beta" as 1.2.4 is way out of date. (you can install both 1.2.6 and 1.3.4 as long as they are installed in different directories, but you should o...

Re: Audio disappears in middle of audio track
Projects work by keeping a laundry list of your theatrical script. If your show calls for deleting the middle minute of a three minute cut, Audacity doesn't take a digital machete to the sound file. It just writes a little note to itself stuck to the refrigerator door that the next time somebody tr...

Re: Newbie: Stops recording after a few minutes
Not enough information.
Are you using the USB input? What version of Audacity? What OS? Does the turntable stop playing? any other info that may be useful in diagnosing the problem?

Re: Audio disappears in middle of audio track
For information - this problem can be reproduced if you delete some of the temporary .au files.
Makes me wonder if someone has "cleaned up some unnecessary old temp files".
