Re: Recording with guitar effects processing software?

You didn't say that you were using a USB soundcard, and that makes a big difference. Also you've not said if you're using a laptop - with a laptop there's probably no solution without a fair bit of additional expence, but if it's a desktop or tower, you can get a PCI soundcard with a decent "li...

Re: Recording From Vinyl

How is the audio sent to the Mac, via USB, or through the audio input of the mac (jack connector)?

Usually with a USB turntable the audio is via the USB connector.

Re: Audacity hangs after stopping recording

It's possible that you have some corrupt temp files. Open Audacity, if it asks to recover temporary files, say no. Go to "Edit->Preferences->Directories" and have a look where your temp files are being stored. Now use Windows Explorer to find the Audacity temporary directory. Close Audacit...

Re: Newbie - Problem with recording 'skipping'

It's a common problem with USB mics, but it can be one of a number of things. Try increasing the audio buffers substantially in "Edit->Preferences->Audio I/O" Also try a different USB socket if you have one. Avoid having any other USB device connected at the same time. Temporarily switch o...

Re: Deleting Blank Space

I'm guessing that you didn't actually use "Edit->Delete", because if you do Audacity automatically moves the later audio so as to remove the blank section (it closes the hole created by deleting). What you can do about it now is: If there's a flat line (silence) joining the recorded bits, ...

Re: recording problem

had any experience with this USB external Sound Card? I've got a Behringer UCA200 and it works great, but there's plenty of people that have had problems with USB audio devices. The main thing seems to be that you have to wait for Windows to load the driver before you open Audacity, then select the...

Re: Drag and Drop Drummer Help

v.1.3.3 beta is out of date, try using v.1.3.4 beta
1.3.4 supports drag and dropping wav files.

Re: Automatic Latency Correction?

Audacity 1.3.4 has latency compensation that works very well.
Manual setting allows for accurate results - on my machine I find that it is accurate to within a couple of samples.

Audacity 1.2.6 has automatic latency correction, but it's not as accurate as in v.1.3.4

Re: Suddenly Unable to Export MP3?

It may be worth reinstalling LAME - even if that's not the fault there may well be a newer version available - There's been a lot of improvement to LAME over the last couple of years.

Re: Recording From Vinyl

The "Columbia LP" is for RIAA compensation - your USB turntable will already have applied RIAA compensation, therefore you should not apply it again, or the result will be very bass heavy and dull. I can't seen to avoid clipping To get a good quality recording it is essential that you avoi...
