Re: Recording electric guitar
The easiest way to record soft synths on Windows is to either use DXi or VSTi instruments and a suitable host program. Unfortunately Audacity doe not support this, so you need a program that does. Some examples: Sonar, or several other Cakewalk products. Cubase, or several other Steinberg products R...

To record streaming media in Windows, make sure that you are recording from the stereo mix and not from a microphone.

Re: Splitting recordings into tracks
Click or select where you would like to place a label, and choose Add Label at Selection from the Project Menu, and a Label Track will be created automatically if one doesn't already exist. Start typing immediately to enter a name for the label. When I click on the flag, it results in making another...

Re: Help with channels
Split the stereo track (from the drop down menu when you click on the track name)
Copy and Paste the audio from the working channel to the blank channel
On the upper track of the pair, select "Make Stereo Track" (on the same menu)

Re: scribble (static?) sound in cut audio
You need to use a supported format, such as "wav"KnockAr0und wrote: and it saved it as Matroska file.
Either select "wav" as the export format from your other program, or use a format conversion tool such as SUPER to convert the file to wav

Re: "Mix Paste" available in Audacity?
You don't need "Mix Paste" in Audacity. Unlike Cool Edit Pro, the multi-track view is used all the time in Audacity - so if you want two clips mixed, just paste in a new track. You can adjust the levels if you wish with the Envelope Tool. I find that v.1.3.4 handles multiple tracks and cli...
