The "Sound Recorder" uses the Microsoft Sound Mapper for audio in and out, so if you follow these steps exactly then it should work: 1) Open "Sound Recorder" 2) Record something 3) Play the recorded sound (you should be able to hear it play back, if not then you need to fix this ...

So you are wanting to "time stretch" by a factor of around 10:1? (1/10th second becomes 1 second). That is a lot of stretching and will have various problems. Since it is a piano sound, you are dealing with a sound that is quite percussive, with a slow decay. Only the low notes of a piano ...

Audacity projects are saved as an "aud" file + files in a data folder - none of these are ordinary audio files, they are the audacity project files. To get ordinary audio files (wav, ogg or mp3) you must "Export" (in the "file" menu).

You mean that you can't hear the recorded track while you are recording a new one?

If this is the case, then:
Click on the menu "Edit->Preferences->Audio I/O" and select the box "Play other tracks while recording new one"

Is it a "Line In" or a "Mic. In" on your laptop?

Are you saying that the left and right channels of a stereo recording swapping sides, or that you are recording a mono source as a stereo recording, and it switches from one channel to the other and back again?
