Re: Audacity Recording-Time limits...
The easiest way would be to create nice handy sized chunks, say 2 hours duration (you could name them by time and date for easy retrieval from the archive) and "zip" them into larger archives. Note that if you save the files as mp3's, you will get very little compression from the zip archi...

Re: ENORMOUS NOISE PROBLEM
I am no longer surprised by strange things from USB turntables. I hope it's just a one off - if not, you may have to record from the analogue output of the turntable (via a phono pre-amp) into the "Line In" of your Mac.

Have you tried a different lead?
I know that it's unlikely, but as Sherlock Holmes said....

Re: flaws in batch-exported WAVs
I've just tried your settings but it worked fine for me (XP Pro SP2), however the problem could be due to a combination of your source files and the slightly strange settings that you are using. Are you aware that the last parameter in the "Truncate Silence" is in milliseconds (0.001 secon...

Re: 1.33 crashes when stop is pressed
Audacity 1.3 is a beta version of Audacity. Users who want a completely stable, finished program should be using Audacity 1.2 The Audacity developers are working hard to bring out the new stable version (v.1.4) for all platforms, so I doubt that you will see many fixes to 1.3 before then. I noticed ...

Re: No Stereomix option?
Have a look at the Windows section of this page: http://audacityteam.org/wiki/index.php? ... bar_Issues
Note also, if your computer is a laptop, it may have "Stereo Mix" disabled - if this is the case, check to see if Toshiba offer an audio driver update to fix it.

Re: failed installation on XP
Try uninstalling (completely) any VST plugins that you were trying - some VST plugins can cause havoc with other audio programs.

Re: problem importing WAV file
That's weird - you say the file is 12 minutes long? At these settings: "Bit Rate- 64bps Audio sample size- 8 bit Channels- 1 (mono) Audio sample rate- 8kHz Audio format- PCM" a 12 minute file should be 5.49 MB (5,760,044 bytes). The only thing that I can think of is that there is something...

Re: Fitting 1 hour onto a CDr
16 bit stereo at 44.1 kHz (CD quality) is about 10 Megabytes per minute. Since most CD's have a capacity of over 650 Megabytes, you can easily record in excess of 65 minutes onto a CD without any compression. (especially if an MP3/80 is 700mb?) What? - a one hour MP3 at 80kbps should be less that 40...

Re: How to adjust relative gain when recording in stereo?
The best way is to adjust the levels that you are recording. Depending on your soundcard drivers, it may be possible to pan the input signal in the recording section of your soundcard mixer so that when you record, both tracks sound (and meter) the same level. If your mixer can not do that, some hi-...
