Re: Stopping/Starting recording without creating new tracks

...My plan in general is to record the whole evening, then split it up into songs later.... I tried that once, and wished I hadn't - splitting it up the next day was such a pain because the project was huge and everything took ages to do. I find it much more convenient to save each song as a projec...

Click on the menu "Edit->Preferences->Audio I/O" and make sure that your USB device is selected for both recording and playback device.

Re: Fuzzy sound and low sound

The record source and record level functions on the Audacity main window, are for "convenience", but unfortunately, because of how an increasing number of sound card drivers are being written, they do not always work. (I expect this feature will be dropped altogether in future versions of ...

Re: failed installation on XP

Just a couple of ideas.

Have you got a reasonable amount of free space on your hard drive?
Have you got a recent "restore point" from when Audacity was working?

If you do, set a restore point and back up the registry first.

Re: Fitting 1 hour onto a CDr

I just recorded 5 minutes and exported that as a WAV... 50Mb! If it is a fair test... that would exptrapolate to 600Mb for 1 hour! That's right - about 10MB per minute. What about those other settings in the WAV Quality window like dithering settings and rate converters? The dithering settings are ...

Re: combine file formats into ONE save as or export box

Actually I don't see your point. According to your logic since you prefer to work in 16 bit 44kHz those options to switch to different sample rates should also be moved to the preferences ? My point is that those options ARE in Preferences AND To make life better for people wanting to do what you a...
