Re: Suggestions for 1.3.4
I don't think that there is a LAME setting for 320 kbps VBR. The maximum bit rate that LAME uses is 320kbps. If you want an average bit rate of 320kbps then the entire file must be at 320kbps, and that is CBR not VBR. The recommended settings are the ones that provide the best quality/size ratio. If...

Re: recording with audacity & Mackie Onyx Satellite
I'm working in the dark here as I do not have a Mackie Onyx Satellite, but this is most likely a driver problem. Just had a look in the user manual http://www.mackie.com/products/satellite/#DOWNLOADS It is very important that the drivers are installed EXACTLY as described on page 7 of the manual. If...

Re: audacity keeps crashing
if I record a couple of hours of music or more Audicity will freeze seeming because it needs more RAM. More likely it is running out of space for temporary files. The temp directory is specified in "Edit->Preferences->Directories" and the amount of data can grow huge - several times bigge...

Re: Transferring a project from MAC to PC
Good point koz. That's not the way I generally work with Audacity so I missed that issue. Nearly all my projects are created entirely in Audacity, and also I use "Make a copy of the file before editing (safer)" in "Edit->Preferences->File Formats" - this means that all the audio ...

Re: Can't record sound from speakers (or anything else, real
Not only is the drop-down menu greyed out so that I can't select the "What U Hear" option... The drop down list is just for "convenience", but unfortunately some sound card drivers do not support this feature, so you will have to use the Windows Mixer (in the Sys tray near the c...

"Package" is a folder - if you go down through the directories you eventually come to "libmp3lame.dylib"

Re: loud, steady noise 20 seconds into each track
My guess is that you are using a USB audio device and it doesn't work reliably.
If this is the case, you need to use a different audio device (such as a decent quality PCI sound card.)

Re: audacity keeps crashing
OS - Windows Vista Home? Audacity version 1.2.6? What audio device are you recording from? (USB turntable, on-board Crystal audio, SoundBlaster Audigy....) What audio device are you using for playback? What are you doing when Audacity crashes? Is it repeatable? Do you have any plug-ins installed? An...

Re: help my school project is due soon.
I have tried every single setting and preference combination imaginable, and no luck. You're probably looking in the wrong place. The audio source is not selected by Audacity, but by the Windows sound system. There will be an audio mixer (may look like a loudspeaker in the sys tray near to the cloc...
