Re: Kristal (KAE) & Audacity mixdown problem

The processor and RAM should be fine at that, but it's still a lot of disk access.

A couple of options, you can either mix down fully in KAE, or you can do your recording and VST stuff in KAE, then save the individual tracks as wav files and import them all into Audacity and do your final mix there.

Re: Recordings play back at slower speed

Were you monitoring the music while it was recording? If Audacity "usually" works OK, it is most likely that your cassette was slipping (hence playing slow) while you were recording. Cassette mechanisms require cleaning from time to time - there are commercial products for doing this, or y...

Re: Audacity files gobbling up my hard disk!

Yes, audio gobbles up disk space, but not as much as video. The temporary files should be deleted automatically when you close Audacity, however this will not happen if Audacity crashes. You can back up the original source files on CD as well if they are important. Backing up projects on CD is a lit...

Re: audacity keeps crashing

Try shutting down any other programs and non-essential background processes that are running, particularly anti-virus or other security programs (you may wish to disconnect from the internet first), and see if that helps.

Re: Hum/Hiss editing from wedding - HELP!!!!

This is quite a challenge for any audio program - the signal level is very low and the noise very high - it's not going to be possible to make it sound perfect. The first thing I did, since it is a mono recording, was to convert it to mono(split track > delete one track > Set the remaining track to ...

Re: How do I create a seamless loop of audio?

This works on Windows, and should be similar on a Mac. Download and install Audacity 1.3.4 (install in a different directory to v.1.26) Import the audio sample that you want to loop Zoom in very close somewhere in the middle of the audio clip so that you can see the individual samples. Place the cur...

Re: Only left channel exports to MP3

Try this as a diagnostic test: Close down all other programs (you should be OK leaving your browser open, unless you want to print out these instructions, but shut down anything else that is running). Make a note of any changes that you make in this bit: Open Audacity v.1.3.4 Click on " Edit->P...

Re: Kristal (KAE) & Audacity mixdown problem

It could be that your computer isn't fast enough to run both Krystal and Audacity simultaneously (there's going to be some serious disk activity if you are playing multi-track audio in one program, mixing it and then writing the data to disk in another program). The easiest option would probably be ...
