Re: Behringer XENYX 2442FX USB mixer

I think the XENYX 2442FX USB mixer is basically an analogue mixer with a (single) UCA202 interface, so you can just record the stereo mix. Check the manual to be sure.

Re: easy test of MIDI controller

I'd say Hydrogen is probably the easiest for testing.

Re: Question about adjusting amplitude

This is possibly a bit easier with Audacity 1.3.4, but you can still do it in v.1.2 (For testing this out you may want to use just 2 or 3 short audio clips, then go onto the actual tracks when you are satisfied that it works - also, always work on copies of your tracks just in case anything goes wro...

Re: zero level at +0.7

This sounds like a very major "DC offset". DC offset is caused by a steady DC voltage being present in the recorded signal (may be due to a faulty soundcard). It is common to have a small DC offset (substantially less than 1% ) that can be corrected with the "normalize" effect, b...

Re: echo? echo? echo?

The short answer - "no" The longer answer; You may be able to remove the "trailing" echoes using a "Gate" effect. The "trailing echoes" are echoes that you hear after the vocal has stopped. I don't know of anything that will reduce the echo effect during...

Re: White Noise.

the record deck is a USB ION turntable As a long time reader you may well have spotted this beasty cropping up a lot. This is a typical USB ION turntable problem. The only reliable solution found so far is to use the analogue outputs (the two phono plugs), plug them into a phono pre-amp and record ...

Re: Recordings play back at slower speed

I can understand you not wanting to make any huge financial (or learning curve) investment, but it may be worth trying a Behringer UCA202. They're cheap and I have one permanently connected to my turntable (via a phono pre-amp) and I'm very happy with the results. http://www.behringer.com/UCA202/ind...
