Re: Fixing "tinny" sound
The graphic equalizer may help restore some of the bass and make it sound less tiny, but unfortunately Audacity does not have a "secret magic fix" button.

Re: Effects Plugin Isn't Working
You are not telling us the full story: I have no effects at all when I open up Audacity. What am I doing wrong? Do you mean that you have "no effects at all", or you have no LADSPA effects listed, or that you have effects listed but they are "greyed out", or what? Other than this...

Did you download "LADSPA_plugins-win-0.4.15.exe" and then run it so that it installed the plug-ins?

Re: Streamed audio
This problem is most common in laptops. Several manufacturers produced laptops with the record inputs crippled, but due to complaints many have now got updated drivers to correct the problem. If you have a laptop with this problem, it's definitely worth checking if a driver update can fix it.

Re: struggling newbie
If you just double click on the README file it will probably open in Notepad. However it is a bit difficult to read in Notepad because of the formatting, so better to open in WordPad. (You can even open it in MS Word if you like).

Re: PLEASE help with my guitar digital recording/soundcard p
I agree that the soundcard is probably the problem, but even if it isn't and the problem is elsewhere it's still worth getting a better soundcard as it will be better when you get it working. On board sound cards are usually pretty bad. With Audacity you can manually adjust the recordings so that th...

Re: Tape to mp3
Check that it's not your media player fading in rather than a problem with your recordings.

Re: Splitting without "hearing" the "breaks"
You can "snap to frames" in Audacity 1.3.4
Also, when you write to CD, write "Disk At Once" (DAO) not "Track At Once" (TAO).
