Re: Feedback whle recording
Laptops typically use "switching" power supplies which are notorious for causing audio interference. As john_in_spain has said, the way to avoid it is to run from batteries.

Re: Add a click track to an existing recording
If the backing tracks are not in "strict tempo" it is very tricky (time consuming) to make a click track that synchronises accurately with it as you will need to do numerous small adjustments to make it match fluctuations in the music. It is unlikely to be worth the trouble as your singer ...

Re: Stereo vocals
GVerb seems to be a mono reverb, but Freeverb is a stereo reverb. You can also create a stereo reverb effect by making a couple of duplicate tracks from the original vocal, shift the copies slightly along the time line (try something in the region of 30 to 60 milliseconds) and pan one to the left an...

Re: Audio while editing
Not sure if I understand your question correctly. Audacity does not have a "scratch" facility as found in a few audio programs, but if you are wanting to just hear a short section of a track, you just need to highlight that section and press Play.

Re: attempted phone recording - ultra-faint signal
Check if you are actually using a "Mic" input or a "Line" input. Microphone inputs are considerably more sensitive than Line inputs (and will usually distort badly if you feed a signal from a headphone out). You haven't actually said what you are trying to record - is it a microp...

Only if you Pause rather than Stop. But you need to be "Stopped" rather than "Paused" to be able to move the other track, so pressing "Stop", then make sure that the cursor is positioned where you want to resume the recording. As WC said, it's not a problem that when y...

Re: Newbie - Problem with recording 'skipping'
Any other suggestions? Make sure that you have plenty of free disk space. Defragment your hard drive. Check to see if there are any non-essential processes running that can be closed. Check that your hard drive is using DMA. Use the task manager for checking what processes are running and if anythi...

Re: problem recording podcasts picks up all audio, why??
That "little window" is just intended as a convenience for set ups that support it. Unfortunately there are an increasing number of audio drivers that use non standard methods and do not support this feature. In such cases (where the recording input is greyed out in Audacity) the recording...

Re: Baby Crying in Background
I tried the "Noise Removal" on it and it worked, only thing is, it took away the music and gave me only the baby. The "Noise Removal" effect will not completely remove the sound of the baby, but you will probably be able to reduce it to some degree. The way that "Noise Remo...

Lol, this is the exact reverse of the problem that most Skype/Audacity users have.
Can you set your Windows Mixer ("Record" settings page), to record directly from the microphone that he is using? (I suspect that you are recording the "Stereo Mix"/"What You Hear").
