Re: imported tracks into aud 1.3 problem
You need to save (or Export) from Mixpad as "Microsoft PCM WAV". You should then be able to import into Audacity.

Re: normalization confused
It seems that Audacity keeps a "mental note" of the peak audio level of each track all the time. If you use "Amplify" you will notice that Audacity immediately knows how much the track can be amplified without clipping (much like with "Normalise".

Re: WAV files are padded with silence to 5 seconds. Why?
It could be a bug in v.1.3.2

Re: High Pass Filter/Noise Gates
Should I try to set up Audacity to utilize the ASIO driver, basically making it my default driver of choice for all recordings? Is this possible? No this is not possible (without doing a custom build from the source code). Here is why: http://audacityteam.org/wiki/index.php?title=ASIO_Audio_Interfa...

Re: 1.2.5 crashes on recording (OSX 10.4.5)
Using 32 bit will create twice as much data as 16 bit. It could be that your hard drive is struggling to keep up. Try 16 bit and see if that's any better.

Re: 1.2.5 crashes on recording (OSX 10.4.5)
Try using 48000 / 16 bit
A lot of people with Macs seem to have problems with 24 bit and reducing it to 16 bit will have very little effect on the final quality of your recordings.

Re: echo in headset while recording
With an Audigy 2 the latency should be low enough to not cause a problem, so it is most likely the "software playthrough" that Locopomo mentioned.

A common problem when starting to use Linux for audio work is getting the inputs and outputs for your sound card driver configured correctly. I presume that you are using ALSA - if not, use Synaptic to install ALSA. You will probably want to use a graphical interface for making the settings to your ...
