Re: The Make Really A Bad Vocal Recording Good Challenge

You can probably get rid of a lot of low end humming and high end hiss with the "Equalizer" - do this before using the "noise removal tool" and you will probably find that the noise removal tool works better.

Put it on a USB memory stick, take it home and convert it, then take it back to work on your memory stick. Alternatively, ask them to resend as MP3, Ogg, WAV, etc. Sending audio as MP4 is almost as bad a choice for sending audio as choosing AAC, RM, AC3 etc. What would you do if someone sent you an ...

That is a possibility, but check out the other things first.

Re: Hellowww out there...

Try the following: Check that the clock on your computer is correct to the second, then turn your computer off for at least a day, and then switch it on with it DISCONNECTED from the internet. If the time is still correct (to the second) then there's nothing wrong with the clock or battery. Regardin...

Re: Hellowww out there...

Does your system clock work OK?

It's not a problem that I've come across before, so unless you made a mistake when you set the timer, that's the only thing I can think of.

If there is a problem with the system clock, you could try changing the on-board lithium cell battery.

Re: Another "what do you recommend?" post

I'd probably go for something like this: http://www.americanmusical.com/Item--i-BEH%20PODCASTFW?SRC=D0407FG0HAMS0000&utm_source=froogle&utm_medium=feed& I'd rather have a PCI soundcard than an external one, such as an "M-Audio - Delta Audiophile 2496", but at around $70 that wo...

To my ear, half volume seems to be about 50% , or -6dB (1/4 volume at 25% or -12 dB, 1/8th volume at 12.5% or -18dB)

Re: Crashing Audacity

My steps is: 1. drag file to audacity 2. split stereo track 3. close track of splitted right channel 4. mono 5. file -> export I presume that your initial track was a 2 track mono recording (both channels identical ) For a true stereo track, the slightly longer method of mixing left and right shoul...

Re: Samson C01U USB Microphone (Review)

Record the backing track first. Then go back to the beginning and record the vocal track. There is a setting in "Edit > Preferences > Audio I/O" that allows you to "play other tracks wile recording new one". (Do not enable "Software Playthrough") When you have recorded ...

Re: Using Software Playthrough interferes with recording

"Software Playthrough" has always been a bit of a clunky work-around on any platform, and more so on a standard Linux install. I'm quite surprised that you ever got it working properly. The reason that software playthrough is provided is for situations just like yours, where the audio inpu...
