Re: removing chirps from guitar recording

I don't think I've ever heard anybody chirp an electric guitar. You can create the "chirping" sound on an electric guitar, but it doesn't sound like quite the same thing as on a steel string acoustic guitar. It is not uncommon for this effect to be deliberately used on electric guitars, u...

Re: Strange Sounds

How are you trying to "clean-up the recording from clicks"? Are you using "Click Removal" or "Noise Removal"? Both of these effects are "destructive" in the sense that they are making permanent changes to the audio. These effects have to try and guess what is ...

Re: Crashing Audacity

There will always be some slight "errors" when ever you convert from one bit depth to another due to "quantisation" errors. The audible effect of quantisation can be minimised by using "dithering" (which Audacity does by default). You can read more about quantisation er...

Re: MP3 Export Distorted

Yeah, definitely a Audacity problem. I exported my file as a .wav from Audacity then used lamedrop to convert to .mp3 and it can out perfect. Then it's definitely not an Audacity problem. Audacity does not encode mp3's, Audacity works with uncompressed audio. MP3 compression is done with LAME, not ...

Are you sure you mean v.1.1.3? That version must be ancient.

Re: Visualisation

For screen recording in Windows, there is the excellent and free CamStudio - it's an old program and it got taken over as a non-free product, but the old free version is still available. I found a few other free screen recorders here: http://www.freesoftware4all.co.uk/screenrecording.htm but CamStud...

Re: Background "beat" to recordings

USB turntable + laptop = Bad News. I don't think that anyone has yet resolved these weird problems other than by using different hardware. Sometimes USB turntables will work, but too often they don't - it seems that the interface borders between being ok and unusable. You could try it on a different...

Re: Visualisation

There is (or at least there was) a plug-in for WinAmp that allows the WinAmp Visualisations to work from the "line in".
