Re: 1.3.4 mute/solo new behavior issue
however, I don'tquite have a grasp of how the time shift (or slider or whatever it is called) works differently than in 1.2.x It's not so much the "Time Shift Tool", but the whole way that Audacity 1.3 handles audio clips compared to v.1.2.. In v.1.3 moving, copying, pasting pieces of aud...

Re: Noise Removal CRASH and workaround
That's a shame - v.1.3.4 runs great on my xubuntu machine. As a matter of interest, have you had any joy using JACK with Audacity?

Re: 1.3.4 mute/solo new behavior issue
To toggle between two tracks (v.1.3.4) simply click the "Solo" button on the track that you want to hear. All other tracks will be automatically muted. To listen to another track, simply click on the "Solo" button for that track.

Re: Childerns Audacity?
Audacity 1.2.6 is probably the easiest version, but there is not a lot of difference in ease of use between that and v.1.3.4 There are some excellent tutorials that show step-by-step how to do many of the common tasks. http://audacityteam.org/wiki/index.php?title=Tutorials http://audacityteam.org/ma...

Re: Recording through Mbox 2?
You need to select the mbox2 in "Edit > Preferences > Audio I/O" You may need to install an audio driver for the mbox2. Note that Audacity does not support ASIO, so you will need to use a WDM or MME driver for it (WDM preferable, MME only if nothing else works). Also check for firmware upd...

Re: ogg / compressing files
FLAC is a "lossless" compression format that will approximately double the amount of music that you can store on a hard drive. "Lossless" means what it says - if you convert a FLAC file back into a WAV file, the result will be identical to the original (uncompressed) file. FLAC i...

Re: Noise Removal CRASH and workaround
I think this problem is just in v.1.3.3 and is fixed in v.1.3.4
v.1.3.4 is available as a deb file for easy installation.

Re: Overdubbing
Audacity v.1.3 is better for this kind of thing. Use the "Time Shift Tool" from the toolbar to slide your clips along their track. Use one track for each audio clip, then you can drag each to the exact position that you want it. You can start recording at a specific time in the track by cl...

Re: crashed during noise removal
Just to let you know that I was able to do the noise reduction on this large file, if I did it in three sessions, and by saving and closing Audacity after each session. Not good, but O.K When you close Audacity, it will delete the temporary files, thus freeing up space on your hard drive which can ...

Re: My voice is slow when I record a song.
How much slower?
And you do mean "slower" (like a tape or record running at the wrong speed) - slower and lower in pitch?
