Re: Extreme Stretch added to Audacity

Paul has now added some documentation :D Thanks Paul. Documentation and source code are here: http://hypermammut.sourceforge.net/paulstretch/paulstretch_audacity/ The instructions seem pretty simple: Manually patching Audacity Put the src/* files to audacity source directory In file "src/Makefi...

Re: !!!!low frequency distortion!!!!

I'm not so sure I agree, I am not saying it would necissarily be easy, but instead of looking for all the different frequencies that the distortion would be on, you would instead just try and remove a majority of the frequencies that they aren't on, which I believe, but am not possitive about, shou...

Re: WMV to WAV/MP3

I just set my input to Stereo Mix, which records the audio that my computer is playing. I then play the original file in its original player (or VLC - very useful!!) and let Audacity record the audio. That will certainly work, but a decent transcoder should be able to do it quicker and better quali...

Re: Distorted playback

When I moved the re-recorded track into the correct position within the album tracks to splice it in the waveform suddenly became squared. Peaks became thick and squared at the top. Can you reproduce this problem at will, or is it sporadic? Can you give us step-by-step instructions of how to reprod...

Re: Crash when recording to project.

It may be worth resetting Audacity back to a "virgin" install state and checking if that cures the problem. To do this, look in "Edit > Preferences > Directories" to see where the Audacity temporary folder is. Close Audacity and delete the temporary folder (it will be recreated w...

Re: Any recommendations for a pre-amp/preamp

Guys, guys, guys.... The conversation was getting rather "tongue in cheek", but fair for you to point that out. In practice you can expect to get years (10 years?) of trouble free use out of any phono connectors, so long as they are not being continuously plugged in and out (in which case...

Re: Recording in stereo

Duplicate your mono recording (edit menu) then click on the name of one track and set it to "Left" channel, then click on the name of the duplicate track and set it to "Right" channel. When you Export the audio, it will be as a stereo file. However, there should really be no diff...

Re: how to turn raw voice recording to studio effect?

In addition to the comments from Koz. With GVerb, it is useful to make a duplicate of the original track (from the Edit menu) then apply GVerb to that. You will then have two tracks, one dry (no effect) and one wet (all effect) which you can adjust volume wise to create your desired wet/dry mix. By ...

Re: VST Bridge

what am I doing wrong? Probably nothing. The VST bridge is still quite experimental, and some VST plug-ins just don't work with it. VST is subject to license restrictions, so you may find it difficult to get full VST support in free software, though I'm not sure what is available (free) for Macs ot...
