Re: sound cards
If you want to use a sound-card (such as SBLive) without the "enhanced" features, do NOT install directly from the installation disk. Instead you should fit the sound-card and install ONLY the soundcard drivers. If the CD "auto-runs", close/exit the installation program. When Win...

Re: record control
There should be a loudspeaker icon in the sys tray (near the clock) - double click on the icon and the Windows mixer should open.

Re: Extracting Vocals Using Instrumental (AGAIN!!!)
Maybe I didn't spend enough time with it, but I suspect that the examples they use on their website are very selective I imagine that they are selective, but I'd also imagine that it would take a lot of tweaking to get good results. This is the first vocal isolation effect that I've seen, so it is ...

Re: Alesis Multimix 8 usb and Audacity-headphones
Is that because when you use the speakers you can hear the guitar acoustically?gadabout wrote:I am playing MIDI music on my laptop, and practice guitar along with it. When I use the speakers, everything works fine; when I try the headphones, I can hear the MIDI, but not the guitar.

Re: Waveform Interpretation
Don't all of the "delicate overtones" and "complex bowing, strike, tail, and emphasis" show up as subtle peaks and valleys in the .wav waveform? Yes they do, but you are unlikely to be able to identify them just from looking. When you compress audio a great deal as an mp3, the b...

Re: Looking for an Audacity compantable digital recorder
Most digital recorders will work with, or at least be able to export, either WAV files, or mp3 files (and sometimes either). Audacity can import either WAV or mp3 files, so just check that the recorder will work with your shortwave radio and that you can get WAV's or MP3's from it. (note that mp3's ...

Re: Can't remove Vocals
The well known vocal removal technique only works if the vocal is centre, and the instruments are mostly not centred. It does not usually work with anything that has been encoded as an mp3 due to the way that mp3 mashes up the stereo positioning.

Re: Extracting Vocals Using Instrumental (AGAIN!!!)
That is a very nice find, and thanks must go to greenie for sharing it with us :) The demo's on their website are very impressive, (especially the pro version, although the standard lower quality version is attractively priced at 90 cents). http://www.elevayta.com/ As far as I can tell it seems to w...
Re: Ringtones
You need to know exactly what format your phone will accept:
mono/stereo, VBR/CBR, bit rate, etc. then make sure that your new ringtone is in that format.
I think they deliberately make it difficult so that you will buy ringtones rather than making your own.

Re: Listening while recording from an USB turntable
Do I have to hook it up to my hi-fi setup (which is about as far away as you can get) to listen at the same time as recording. The short answer is "yes" - that's why they provided an analogue out (that and the fact that the usb out often does not work - but you seem to be one of the lucky...
