I still don't understand where you get those figures from. A doubling of power is equivalent to a 6dB change. The dB range reflects that oddity. 0.5 percent is only -6 dB. 0.5 percent of what? You must mean +/- 0.5 indicates -6dB. 0.5 is not half loudness to your ear. 0.125 is. Now look at where 0.1...

Vocal removal from mp3's will generally fail because of the mp3 compression mashing up the stereo image.

You must have LAME installed to export from Audacity as mp3

No, Lame is for mp3's only.
There is a free encoder called SUPER that can convert wma to WAV
