Re: increased size of wav file after editing
So what WC is saying, is make sure that you export as 16 bit 44.1 kHz stereo and you will see straight away if it will fit on a CD or not. If you use Audacity 1.3.4 you can easily change the project rate to 44.1 from the selection toolbar, and then set the bit depth to 16 bit from the export options...

Re: Waveform not symmetrical
It sounds like a hardware problem - something like a capacitor breaking down and putting a DC voltage on the audio input, which gradually (exponentially) returns to the correct level (zero DC offset).
Can you test the line in of your soundcard by connecting a different audio source to it?

Re: Tempo for copy and paste
Do you mean that you want the time display (the ruler that shows the time) to display bars and beats?
If that's what you mean, then unfortunately Audacity does not have that feature.

Re: VST plugins
Did you unzip the plug-ins? If you unzip a LADSPA plug-in into the plug-in folder it should appear in the appropriate Audacity menu. For example, if you unzip an effect plug-in into the plug-in folder, it will appear in the effects menu. Note that if you have installed both Audacity 1.2 and Audacity...

If it's dance music or similar, something with a strong regular beat, I find just counting and looking at a watch to be the most accurate. It's the main, regular pulse that you need to be counting - difficult to describe without listening to an example, if you have trouble counting the beats you may...

If you want to slow down or speed up like a DJ would by changing the speed of the deck, then the effect you need is called "change speed" How to do it: Listen to one of the tracks and count how many beats per minute, then do the same for the second track. Let's say the first track is at 12...

Re: Microphone through USB setup question
Have a look in the Windows Control Panel, and see if you can adjust the recording volume from there. Some USB audio devices (such as the Behringer UCA202) run only at line level (no adjustment possible), and in such cases it would be necessary to run the microphone through a mixing desk or microphon...

Re: Audacity Keeps Crashing
have you by any chance got the project format set to 24bit audio?
If so, try changing it to 16 bit (or 32 bit) - some macs seem to have problems with 24 bit.
