Re: clipping at 1/2 levels... ? (presonus firebox)
If you set Audacity to record 32 bit, then it will ask your soundcard for 32 bit data. Your hardware will do that in whatever way it does and there is nothing that Audacity can do about it - it;s down to the hardware and its drivers. One would assume that the soundcard, when asked for data in 32 bit...

Re: Importation of mp3
The original file is in stereo and as a bitrate of 320kbps... How do you know that? If it is a stereo file, Audacity will import it as a stereo file. If you have a specific stereo mp3 file (that definitely IS stereo) and Audacity imports it as mono, please upload it to the web somewhere so that we ...

Re: No Input Selection available
Control of the audio inputs through the Audacity interface only works if the audio hardware drivers support it, which an increasing number don't. If if you have the input selection in the Audacity interface, the ALSA mixer will override it. When Audacity 1.2.x and 1.3.x were first released, most sou...

Re: Recording from external source , HELP !!!
.I 'am going from the Headphone Jack on my stereo to the Headphone Jack on my PC . That will not work - the headphone jack is an output. You need to connect the output of your stereo to the "Line In" jack socket on your computer. Note also that using the headphone out is far from ideal - ...

Re: Recording device
In Audacity or Garage Band is there a way to record the spoken vocals on a new track while bleeding, so to speak, some of the other track in so that there is an effective melding of voice and orchestral track? This would sound no different from what you already have - that is: professionally record...

Re: recording album sides and dividing to separate tracks
I personally execute live performances at 48000/16 (jury's out on 32000-floating) to get the highest possible quality that makes sense*. If I'm on my Windows machine and I'm capturing specifically for CD, I use 44.1/16 so that no further conversion is necessary. On my Linux machine I have to use 48...
