Re: Converting LP's (78), speed problem
the file is wav and sounds like chip munks Back in the good ol' days when we had vinyl disks called records..... :) OK, so we have 33 1/3 rpm for LP's, 45 rpm for singles, and 78 rpm for 78's So a "45" should be played at 45 Rotations Per Minute. A "78" should be played at 78 Ro...

Re: clipping at 1/2 levels... ? (presonus firebox)
Very high spec. AD/DA converter chips are available to manufacturers at ridiculously low prices these days, but there is a lot more to a high quality soundcard than just the chip. The analogue circuitry that connects the chip to the world make a huge difference, both in quality, performance and cost.

Thanks. The link at topic 423, m http://audacityteam.org/files/a ... 6-test.dmg m , gives "Page Not Found." That's because the file is no longer there. The file that was there previously was not a .htb file, it was a .dmg file I managed to track down one of the files: audacity-macosx-inte...

Re: Importation of mp3
No it is stereo 320 kbps CBR, encoded in iTunes. but you're right, it opens in Audacity as a mono file  I'm not sure if due to some corruption in the file, or if it is just something odd about the iTunes encoder that Audacity 1.2.6 does not like, but it will open correctly in Audacity 1.3.4 I...

Re: Trouble going from WAV to CD
Audio CD's use "44.1 kHz 16 bit Microsoft PCM WAV" files.
You don't say what CD burning software you are using - I recommend Nero (any version, you sometimes get a light version free when you buy a CD writer and even that will do fine). I do not recommend Windows Media player.

Re: Waveform not symmetrical
Ideally you would connect the pre-amp out to the line in - that is, before the power amp. A speaker output is not designed to go into a line input, for one thing, the signal level can be much higher than line level (so I hope you are keeping the volume level on the record player very low). The other...
